Background

Liscate

The Liscate plant targets a diversified market:

  • From industry (food, engineering, textile, chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, graphic)
  • To service activities in the environmental hygiene sector (road wells, biological pits, etc.)
  • And waste management (landfill leachate).

The Liscate (MI) plant treats 750 m3 per day of special waste with hazardous and non-hazardous liquids delivered exclusively with tankers from civil, craft and industrial settlements.

The plant consists of several operating units:

  • Waste reception and pre-treatment unit (physical treatment by grilling, desanding and equalization)
  • Chemical-physical pre-treatment plant (flocculation and precipitation of pollutants with iron and aluminium salts, lime, polyelectrolyte)
  • Two biological treatment streams (pre-denitrification step to remove nitrate using biodegradable organic substances an effluent and oxidation-nitrification steps to oxidize ammonia to nitrate)
  • Final filtration on sand and activated carbon
  • Final disinfection tank

AUTOMATION SYSTEM

An advanced automation system manages the plant and controls in real time the plant, hydraulic and chemical-physical parameters at every stage of the process.

BIOGAS PRODUCTION

An anaerobic digester produces biogas generated by the breakdown of organic matter using anaerobic bacteria. The biogas is primarily composed of methane and carbon dioxide, with lesser amounts of hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, and other gases and it is burned to generate heat.
